Job Title: Insurance Risk Manager

PBF Energy Inc., a leading independent refiner in North America, is seeking a seasoned Insurance Risk Manager to join its team. This pivotal role will be based at the company's headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.

Job Summary:

The Insurance Risk Manager will support the Vice President of Investor Relations, Insurance Risk Management, in the daily administration and annual review of the company's insurance portfolio. This involves working strategically and effectively with all business units, assisting with insurance issues related to contracts and coverages, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on insurance procurement and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the company's commercial property, builders risk, casualty, management liability, marine, surety, cyber, and international insurance programs.
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers to ensure assigned policies are placed and renewed to meet business needs aligned with the company's insurance strategy.
  • Understand and convey the company's risk profile to insurance carriers to achieve competitive pricing for necessary insurance coverages.
  • Work with key business heads to establish and quantify the organization's risk appetite, recommending appropriate insurance coverage and limits.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party service providers, including insurance markets and brokers.
  • Serve as the primary resource for commercial insurance programs, communicating with internal functions, including EH&S, Operations, Treasury/Credit, IT Business Development, Commercial, HR, Legal, Finance, and refinery/logistics operations.
  • Review proposed contracts and provide advice on necessary provisions to align contract terms with insurance obligations and restrictions.
  • Develop insurance programs to support new business initiatives.
  • Manage exposure-to-risk claims programs to ensure proper and efficient handling of claims, gathering data on claims for record keeping and loss forecasting purposes.
  • Participate in and contribute to all M&A transactions, providing pre- and post-insurance due diligence.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience as a corporate risk manager and/or broker, preferably in the energy sector.
  • Exposure to a broad range of commercial insurance lines.
  • Experience with alternative risk transfer and risk financing structures.
  • Possess excellent business judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide sound financial and business judgment, strategic thinking, and broad financial and business perspective across the organization.
  • Highly effective in setting priorities with excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Must possess strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, adjusters, forensic accountants, third-party administrators, and brokers.
  • Travel 15-20%.
