Position: Secondary Instrumental Music Educator

The Secondary Instrumental Music Educator plays a crucial role in fostering student achievement in both academic and social skills by implementing curriculum approved by the district. This includes documenting educational progress, addressing individual learning needs, ensuring a secure learning environment, and providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and school administration. The ideal candidate will have the capability to instruct band, orchestra, or contemporary music, tailored to the district's requirements and the educator's area of expertise.

Reporting Structure:

This role reports directly to the Principal.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred)
  • Certificates & Licenses: A valid license from the Virginia Department of Education with an endorsement in Music: Instrumental PreK-12 or eligibility to acquire one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modifies classroom activities to provide tailored instructional materials that align with individual learning plans.
  • Conducts assessments to measure student competency and formulates personalized learning strategies.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and community resources to improve student outcomes.
  • Advises students on various matters and offers support.
  • Oversees student behavior to maintain a safe educational environment.
  • Prepares documentation to track student progress.
  • Reports incidents to uphold student safety and adhere to school policies.

Clearances Required:

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test

Public Health Compliance:

  • Adherence to safety and health protocols is mandatory.
