Department Overview


The laboratories within our network are fully equipped facilities that provide a wide range of diagnostic services tailored to pediatric patients. Our labs are strategically located to serve both inpatient and outpatient populations, offering expertise in various disciplines including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Virology, Serology, Blood Bank, Immunology/Flow Cytometry, Histology, and Pathology.



Position Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, responsible for the processing of specimens, conducting tests, reporting results, and collecting samples.

This position requires a high level of accuracy, precision, and timeliness in service delivery, ensuring adherence to both departmental and regulatory standards.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist serves patients of all ages and also engages in non-technical responsibilities such as inventory management, supply stocking, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

License/Certification/Registration required? Yes

*NCA, ASCP or equivalent

*Certification as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) board of registry or an equivalent professional organization as per CLIA standards. Certification must be obtained within the first year of employment and maintained according to ASCP guidelines.

Education:

*Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent education and experience to qualify under CLIA guidelines.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

*Requires a baccalaureate or equivalent

*Proficient computer skills

*Detail-oriented approach

*Highly organized, efficient, and capable of multitasking. Strong communication skills are essential

*Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

*Demonstrates accountability for actions and decisions in daily responsibilities

*Welcomes and incorporates feedback positively

*Provides constructive input to enhance team performance

The posted compensation range reflects rates for a grouping of multiple roles within a salary grade.

We take into account various factors including market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate, as well as organizational needs.

Base pay is just one component of the comprehensive rewards program offered by Children's Hospital Association.
