Job Title: Lead Engineer

AVANGRID, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Protection and Control (P&C) Department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing engineering standards, relay setting file templates, and record-keeping processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of P&C engineering standards and relay setting file templates
  • Participate in the evaluation of new vendors and technologies
  • Conduct engineering analysis and research white papers and manuals
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, present to technical and non-technical audiences, and document assignments
  • Collaborate with other P&C engineers, departments, contractors, and vendors
Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of Power System Electrical Engineering experience, with at least 2 years of Protection & Control experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including sequential components, per unit, harmonics, transformers, and fault analysis
  • Experience or knowledge in IEC 61850 (GOOSE Data Models, Sampled Values, MMS), networking, real-time simulators, virtualized protection relays, and centralized substation protection
