Cyber Crime Vulnerability Management Specialist

">Discord is a platform that plays a uniquely important role in the gaming industry. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.
We are seeking a well-rounded Security Engineer to join our team in identifying, tracking, and resolving threats and vulnerabilities found in the Discord platform. The successful candidate will have a deep sense of curiosity to find and solve complex technical challenges, work with other engineers in the Security and Product departments, and an endless desire to improve Discord.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the Bug Bounty Program: Collaborate with external researchers to identify and validate vulnerabilities, ensuring timely remediation and maintaining a secure environment.
- Validate and Triage Identified Vulnerabilities: Utilize application security tooling and processes to evaluate reported issues, providing actionable recommendations for resolution.
- Work with Teams Across Engineering: Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve reported problems, prioritizing collaboration and effective communication.
- Track Remediation Tasks: Develop and maintain tools to track remediation tasks across teams, ensuring seamless coordination and progress monitoring.
- Write Code to Solve Reported Problems: As necessary, develop code to address identified vulnerabilities, adhering to best practices and standards.
- Build Tools and Processes: Design and implement automation tools, emphasizing self-service, repeatability, and efficiency to enhance the identification and resolution of reported issues.
Requirements:
- 2+ Years of Experience Securing Production Applications: Proven track record of securing applications in production environments, with a focus on prevention and response.
- Experience with Application Security Tooling and Processes: Familiarity with code review, static code analysis, penetration testing, risk management, and related tools and techniques.
- Working Knowledge of Application Security Concepts and Best Practices: Understanding of OWASP Top 10 principles and adherence to established security standards.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Rust, or Node).
- Previous Experience with Bug Bounty Programs: Familiarity with HackerOne, Bugcrowd, or similar platforms, with a proven ability to collaborate with external researchers.
