Position Summary:
In this fulfilling role, you will be instrumental in assisting our Lead Educator to cultivate a dynamic and supportive learning atmosphere for our energetic classroom of young children aged 2-4 years. Collaborating closely with the Lead Educator, you will provide personalized care and attention to each child, promoting their social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language growth through interactive, play-based experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
● Classroom Assistance:
○ Support the Lead Educator in organizing and preparing the classroom for daily activities and educational experiences.
○ Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized learning environment throughout the day, adhering to established guidelines.
○ Facilitate smooth transitions between activities and routines, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
○ Prepare the classroom at the beginning of the school year, including setting up bulletin boards and thematic displays.
○ Participate in a rotating schedule of responsibilities, including art projects, diaper changes, bathroom breaks, circle time, snack time, and general supervision during classroom and outdoor activities.
○ Assist in keeping the classroom, toys, tables, and surfaces clean and tidy.
○ Maintain an accurate headcount of students throughout the day.
● Child Development & Learning:
○ Engage with children through play-based activities, storytelling, and exploration, following the Lead Educator's lesson plans and curriculum.
○ Provide age-appropriate guidance and support to help children develop social skills, independence, and self-care abilities.
○ Assist the Lead Educator in observing and evaluating children's developmental progress.
● Communication & Teamwork:
○ Foster positive relationships with children, nurturing a sense of trust and belonging.
○ Communicate effectively with the Lead Educator and parents/guardians, providing updates on children's progress and needs.
○ Collaborate with the Lead Educator to ensure a consistent approach to diapering and toileting routines.
○ Welcome students and their families warmly.
● Professional Growth:
○ Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
○ Stay informed about best practices for working with young children, including diapering and toileting procedures.
○ Take advantage of in-classroom opportunities to develop skills in leading group activities with children.
Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or equivalent (CDA or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred)
● 3+ years of experience with children ages 2-4 or a minimum of 1+ year of experience in a childcare center or preschool setting.
● Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
● Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
● Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
● High energy level and a positive demeanor.
● Successful background check.
● Authorized to work in the United States, with necessary documentation for employment eligibility.
Patti's Play Center is a non-profit organization, consisting of a small team including a Director, Lead Educator, and Assistant Educator. We offer numerous opportunities for collaboration and creativity within our team.
