Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Senior Group Leader is responsible for assisting with programming and supervision of the School Age licensed program. The Senior Group Leader will help plan and implement a program of activities which will ensure each child's personal safety while providing entertainment, physical challenges, and learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Responsibility: Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies are maintained at all times.
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA's policies.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide leadership of daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, Fun/Food Curriculum.
  • Communication and Public Relations: Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
  • Supervision and Safety: Supervision of the program's children in all program locations, trips, etc.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in completing necessary documentation, including accident reports, incident reports and attendance records.
  • Staffing and Scheduling: Provide input in weekly staffing schedule.
  • Family Strengthening: Assist in the timely issuance of a monthly newsletter/calendar of events for families.
  • Professional Development: Establish and maintain effective training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of 18 years of age, B.S. or B.A. with 9 months experience with school age children, or High School diploma or equivalent and one year working with school age.
  • Certifications and Training: CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required, evidence of physical examination within last 12 months, negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team, ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary, ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
