Position Summary

The IT Applications and Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the technological framework of the American Society of Human Genetics. Reporting to the Senior Director of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives, this position is dedicated to the upkeep and management of business applications, data integrity, and overall IT infrastructure. The Administrator will assess technological requirements, serve as the primary contact for customer relationship management systems, troubleshoot issues, evaluate emerging technologies, and implement approved solutions. This role involves managing relationships with technology vendors and consultants.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce Management

  • Act as the main administrator for Salesforce environments, including both production and sandbox instances.
  • Oversee user and license management, including setup, deactivation, roles, profiles, and permissions.
  • Address user support inquiries and escalate issues to Salesforce and third-party vendors as necessary.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including updates, security checks, and system optimization.
  • Implement configuration changes across various applications and processes, ensuring documentation is maintained.
  • Automate workflows using tools such as process builder and flow automation.
  • Manage integrated applications and liaise with related vendors.
  • Gather and implement requests for system improvements, while keeping users informed of changes.
  • Support end users and monitor the adoption of Salesforce features, providing training and resources as needed.
  • Enhance data quality through proactive management and automation.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop reports and dashboards using Salesforce and PowerBI.

IT Administration

  • Manage software licensing and user access for all technology solutions.
  • Monitor hardware and software inventory, providing recommendations for upgrades and purchases.
  • Maintain relationships with technology vendors and consultants.
  • Assist with general IT support requests as needed.
  • Enhance the security and health of technology environments through proactive measures.
  • Provide IT support for onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws regarding data deletion requests.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support organizational needs.

Project Management

  • Lead technology project management efforts, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project priorities and develop detailed requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as information technology or computer science is required.
  • A Master's degree or relevant certifications, such as Salesforce Certified Administrator, are highly preferred.

Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in IT and application administration is required, with at least two years in Salesforce administration preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a history of successful project completion.
  • Strong data analysis and management skills, with proficiency in tools like Excel and PowerBI.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex processes effectively.
  • Ability to assess the impact of new requirements on Salesforce and related systems.
  • Genuine interest in Salesforce and a quick aptitude for mastering new technologies.
  • Experience with nonprofit operations is a plus.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time exempt position requiring 37.5 hours per week.
  • Occasional evening or weekend commitments may be necessary.

Physical Requirements

This role involves significant sitting, with occasional standing and walking. It requires extensive computer work, including keyboard and monitor use, and may involve lifting materials up to 20 lbs.
