Department Overview:

Focusing on cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection, L526 plays a vital role within the MITRE Cybersecurity Innovation Center. Acting as a central hub for national and international strategy development in cyber and privacy, governance, technical and organizational policy, risk management, and cyber & ICT supply chain risk management, the department provides expert personnel and invaluable capabilities to assist our sponsors in addressing their most complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Personnel Management

  • Provide leadership and daily management for team members across various experience levels.
  • Oversee and facilitate routine administrative functions related to employment.
  • Support the onboarding and integration of new team members.
  • Maintain regular communication with team members to ensure their well-being, engagement, and job satisfaction.

Professional Development

  • Offer coaching, mentoring, and guidance to team members to enhance performance.
  • Engage in regular developmental discussions to foster a positive environment for team members to set realistic goals that leverage their strengths and interests.
  • Advocate for team members to identify opportunities for career experiences and professional growth.

Project Assignment

  • Participate in staffing activities to align projects with staff competencies and identify stretch assignments for skill development.
  • Assist in creating transition plans and facilitate project transitions that meet the needs of both projects and team members.

Performance Oversight

  • Engage in ongoing discussions with project leads regarding expectations, performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Gather feedback on team members' performance and recommend corrective or developmental actions as necessary.
  • Participate in annual performance management activities.
  • Complete performance reviews thoroughly, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Identify opportunities to acknowledge and reward team members' achievements.

Leadership Team Engagement

  • Act as a primary change agent in developing and implementing division and department strategies, plans, and programs.
  • Contribute to work shaping for upcoming projects related to competency areas.
  • Participate in the leadership and management of departmental personnel activities, including recruitment, development, and retention of staff necessary to fulfill the department's mission, vision, strategy, goals, and objectives.
  • Provide backup support for other team leaders or management as needed.
  • Ensure team members are informed about the corporate, center, program, and department mission, strategic direction, priorities, related plans and activities, and policies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leadership and management capabilities.
  • Strong technical and program management skills with practical experience in relevant technical areas.
  • Ability to effectively engage with senior leaders, management peers, direct reports, and support staff.
  • Capability to collaborate with department leadership to build an effective team.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and conduct analyses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with a Secret clearance.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 12 months of experience at MITRE.
  • Familiarity with MITRE Labs, MITRE National Security Sector, and MITRE Public Sector organizations and their supported capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and cultivate key relationships across MITRE's Innovation Centers and program division partners.

Clearance Requirements:

This position requires the candidate to possess a minimum of the following clearance(s): Secret.

This position requires the hired candidate to obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): DHS SCI/Fitness.

Salary Range:

$151,000 - $188,500 - $226,000 Annual.

Work Location Type:

Hybrid.
