About the Role

The Nurse Manager is a key member of our clinical team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our OBGYN department. This is a full-time position based in Greenville, with occasional travel to other Physicians East locations.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate clinical operations at OBGYN locations, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient departmental workflows.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, supervisors, managers, administration, and physicians, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain clinical policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Evaluate the quality of care provided by staff, conducting regular observations and competency testing, and providing feedback to improve performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluation appraisal conferences with direct clinical staff, addressing performance concerns and initiating disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Maintain records of direct assigned staff's performance, concerns, and requests for transfers, and ensure timely completion of performance evaluations.
  • Appoint, transfer, promote, and terminate clinical employees as deemed necessary, and assist fellow managers with these processes when a witness is required.
  • Select new employees based on education, work experience, and references, and review and authorize outside continuing education for clinical staff.
  • Act as a liaison between other departments and outside agencies for Physicians East-sponsored events, and between the nursing department and other departments for problem-solving, planning, and developing methods to improve productivity and quality of care.
  • Attend scheduled meetings, keeping other departments informed of nursing activities, needs, or concerns, and chair or attend Physicians East-sponsored committee meetings.
  • Accept responsibility and accountability for Physicians East areas that store controlled substances, following state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Review patient complaints related to the clinical department, follow up with involved employees and physicians, and return calls to patients or family members to resolve the matter.
  • Collaborate with the Quality and Safety manager on MOCK inspections of each nursing area for OSHA hazards or violations.
  • Assist the purchasing department with information for purchasing supplies and equipment, ensuring an adequate supply of drugs, supplies, and equipment to perform all procedures safely, efficiently, and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Work in the clinical area on an as-needed basis, ensuring desktops are maintained and clinical supervisors and team leads are trained.
  • Audit patient charts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and documentation guidelines are followed, and ensure clinical staff licenses and requirements are up to date.
  • Assess clinical supplies in the departments regularly to ensure inventory controls are in place and order thresholds are upheld, and address leakage opportunities and create workflows to prevent.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of clinical supplies, including approving initial requests for new and replacement clinical supplies, and controlling costs of clinical supplies.
  • Work to ensure efficiency in clinical and patient workflows, including the EMR.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
  • Five years of clinical experience plus three years of healthcare/clinic management experience.
