About the Position
Maricopa County is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team as a Head Start Floater Teacher. As a key member of our Human Services Department, you will play a vital role in promoting active learning in preschool classrooms and supporting the development of young children.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement a responsive and evidence-based curriculum, creating a safe and nurturing environment for children to enhance their skills in language and literacy, cognitive development, and social-emotional growth.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Head Start regulations, as well as program policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, site team members, community agencies, and grantee staff members.
- Assist with recruitment and enrollment of children and families into the Maricopa County Early Education Division Program.
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being, and maintain accurate records of their growth and development.
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities and plan classroom experiences to support the IEP plan.
- Communicate regularly with parents and conduct educational home visits and parent-teacher conferences as required.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or equivalent college degree with 18 credits in early childhood education and/or child development.
- Completion of supervised student teaching in an early childhood setting may substitute for the teaching experience requirement.
- One year of experience teaching in a licensed childcare or pre-k setting is preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Must complete a background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Successful candidates must also complete a medical exam that includes screening for TB.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler's must be obtained within six weeks of hire.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire.
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish may be required for some positions.
