Position Summary

The Procurement Specialist will be integral in overseeing and enhancing the inventory management of lubricants, DEF, antifreeze, equipment, and other essential items. Collaborating closely with Warehouse and Location leaders, this role ensures precise inventory control and management across all operational sites.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Oversight
  • Manage vendor orders to sustain optimal inventory levels across various locations.
  • Efficiently create and process Purchase Orders to align with operational needs.
  • Oversee and enhance inventory levels to avert shortages or surpluses.
  • Facilitate the transfer of inventory between branches to maximize stock efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Prepare and verify manufacturing and packaging orders to guarantee product availability and timely distribution.
  • Conduct inspections on incoming and outgoing freight shipments to ensure accuracy, in collaboration with location managers.
Strategic Sourcing
  • Establish and uphold Reorder Point (ROP) levels for warehouse inventory to initiate automatic restocking.
  • Identify and manage excess or obsolete inventory effectively.
  • Ensure timely updates of vendor pricing in inventory management systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors to address issues related to shortages, damages, or defective items.
Relationship and Performance Management
  • Foster positive working relationships across all organizational levels to encourage a collaborative working environment.
  • Keep the immediate supervisor informed of significant issues and take prompt corrective actions as necessary.
  • Propose enhancements for product storage, inventory bin assignments, and warehouse ROP levels.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on inventory management processes and procedures.
Additional Duties
  • Suggest strategies to improve efficiency in warehouse operations.
  • Assist in buyback reconciliation processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support business objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • No direct reports.
Work Environment
  • Work is primarily conducted in an office and field setting.
  • Regular exposure to equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Frequent work in environments that may be dusty, wet, or dirty, with exposure to fuel and fuel vapors.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of moving throughout the office to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Frequent use of phones, computers, and office equipment.
  • Ability to navigate work and customer sites effectively.
  • Capable of climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, bending, and stooping.
  • Able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Travel Expectations
  • Local travel as needed.
  • Occasional travel outside the local area (~20%).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, operations, manufacturing, logistics, or a related field.
  • Strong business acumen coupled with analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Oracle Netsuite or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn company systems and processes.
  • Solid financial understanding.
  • Commitment to the company's values and ethical standards.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as supply chain, operations, logistics, finance, or accounting.
  • Experience in transportation, lubricants, fuel, or a related industry.
  • Background in dispatching or logistics support.
