Position Overview:
The Aviation Consultant plays a pivotal role in assisting the project manager or project coordinator to meet client requirements.
Accountable for the successful execution of designated project tasks by efficiently completing and/or collaborating with team members to achieve project objectives.
Oversees project activities and updates while directing the efforts of Project Analysts and/or additional support personnel, as necessary.Qualifications:
Education / Technical / Experience:
A bachelor's degree is mandatory.
A specialization in aviation management, urban planning, architecture, engineering, quantitative analysis, mathematics, computer sciences, graphics, computer-aided design, or public administration is preferred.
A master's degree is advantageous. A minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience is essential.Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
Formulate a detailed scope of work based on client requirements (including a comprehensive breakdown of tasks, estimated hours for completion, and an associated timeline/fee).
In instances where budget constraints necessitate adjustments, modify the scope of work accordingly and manage client expectations regarding these changes.
Oversee the contributions of team members to fulfill elements of the scope of work. Team members may include subconsultants, junior associates, and senior associates.Ensure projects are managed within the agreed timelines and budgetary constraints.
Maintain regular communication with relevant client contacts.
Accountable for producing all necessary work products for a project, which may encompass written reports, plans, drawings, presentation materials, and other deliverables.
Review and analyze data, information received, and deliverables with meticulous attention to detail to identify discrepancies and ensure alignment with scoped requirements.
Proactively identify potential issues that may arise during a project and work towards resolving them promptly.
Supervisory SupportProvide training and mentorship to junior staff members.
This may include formal training on specific topics or skills, as well as general on-the-job training and mentoring, which may be technical or focus on other essential professional skills.
Offer constructive feedback to junior staff as needed.It is crucial to understand that feedback is intended to enhance the value of our associates to our clients.
Staff should be informed of skills and behaviors that are beneficial to our clients, as well as those that are not.
Feedback should always be delivered in a neutral and fair environment, and discussions should be conducted professionally.
Participate in the annual review process and any necessary interim updates.Communication:
The Senior Consultant should be adept at leading meetings and corporate presentations for all levels of stakeholders (internal and external) and clients.
Be well-versed in the company's style guidelines and capable of writing or directing the writing efforts for all deliverables included in any scope of work.
Be proficient in leading teams, whether internal or external, through visioning, stakeholder assessment exercises, and strategy development sessions.Possess a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of work-related tasks and be able to delegate responsibilities to capable junior staff to maximize both the project manager's effectiveness and the ability to manage multiple projects while fostering the professional growth of junior staff.
Business Development:Be skilled at identifying follow-on work opportunities with existing clients and consistently seek opportunities for the company to expand its business while maintaining excellent customer service.
Begin to focus on specific areas that the company considers core to its strategic suite of services.
Expect to receive guidance and coaching from more senior staff on the intricacies of selling work in the current business environment.
Responsible for recognizing opportunities to sell work and identifying legitimate leads to pass on to management for further evaluation and follow-up.
Should be proficient in cultivating and maintaining a network of contacts for future business development.
Technical Skills:Demonstrate proficiency in Excel for advanced data analysis.
This includes managing, sorting, and formatting data, utilizing advanced functions and charting, creating pivot tables, and employing macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
Be fully capable of preparing PowerPoint presentations, including the use of drawing tools, animations, formatting, and advanced features.Exhibit a solid understanding of the airport environment, gained through experience in planning, design, management, or construction.
Be adept at applying critical thinking skills to decompose problems into manageable components for resolution, identifying effective approaches to solutions.
Familiarity with AutoCAD is beneficial for viewing files and performing basic or advanced manipulations and drawings.
Show a willingness to learn and apply new technical skills to enhance overall proficiency.Licensing/Certifications:
None required.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit for extended periods, bend, use hands for manipulation (typing), communicate verbally, and hear; walk; sit, and lift or move no more than ten (10) pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Mental Requirements:
While performing the responsibilities of this position, employees are regularly required to utilize written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information, and documents; analyze and resolve problems, apply mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; work under deadlines with occasional interruptions, and interact frequently with staff and other organizations.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, with an expectation of 40 hours of work per week – occasional weekend or evening work may be necessary.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to a Managing Consultant, Director, Vice President, or other management personnel identified during the hiring or annual review process.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None.
