Position Summary:
The Youth Engagement and Outreach Specialist at Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona plays a vital role in facilitating peer-to-peer outreach and connecting homeless youth to essential services. This position is integral to the 'Goodwill's Metro/REC Reengagement Project for Homeless Youth,' focusing on organizing outreach initiatives, educational events, and resource fairs.
The specialist will also contribute to the formation of a youth committee aimed at fostering leadership opportunities within the project.Key Qualifications:
- Must be a youth aged 18-24
- Experience with at-risk, system-involved, or homeless youth populations is advantageous
- Complete CPR and First Aid certifications within the first 90 days of employment and maintain them
- Secure and maintain a fingerprint clearance for youth service provision
- Uphold a positive demeanor while executing job responsibilities
- Communicate effectively and transparently
- Foster and support the youth leadership committee
- Address concerns promptly and report issues to the Community Engagement Coordinator
- Proactively identify and manage potential challenges or negative behaviors
- Comply with all organizational policies and safety protocols
- Engage in mandatory training sessions
- Represent Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona within the community
- Participate in outreach and networking efforts
- Travel between Youth Centers as required
- Collaborate with the TPCH youth action committee
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Work independently with minimal oversight and adapt to evolving situations
- Demonstrate proficiency in the English language
- Possess a valid driver's license and personal transportation with proof of auto insurance
Criminal background checks will be conducted on qualified candidates, considering only convictions pertinent to the role.
