Job Summary

CEMEX is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sand Mine Manager to oversee the daily operations of our sand mine. As a key member of our plant management team, you will be responsible for supervising salaried and hourly employees, managing budgets, mine planning, permitting, and ensuring operational compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Achieve and maintain Zero4Life by utilizing the VFL program and supporting the SIC and SBO programs.
  • Cost Management: Track and maintain costs in the sand mine operation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Develop and maintain a safe and environmentally compliant operation with the assistance of the Safety and Environmental Representatives.
  • Process Improvement: Develop new operational methods to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Production Planning: Interface with Corporate Mine Planning staff and local QC staff to develop the short-term and long-term mining plan.
  • Production Management: Direct production to meet production goals.
  • Resource Management: Minimize overtime used, schedule vacations, and maintain equipment with assistance of maintenance personnel.
  • Purchasing and Procurement: Maintain purchasing of regular materials for the operation and work with Procurement to purchase routine materials.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain operational compliance with zoning and related permits.
  • Financial Management: Develop annual budget for the operation.
  • Community Relations: Be a Company Representative with the local community and interface with them.
  • Financial Acumen: Understand basic financial reporting related to aggregate operations.
  • Performance Monitoring: Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to help guide production and identify areas for improvement.
  • Inventory Planning: Coordinate with sales to plan for future inventory requirements.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all CEMEX, MSHA, and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
  • Performance Goals: Meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Mining, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience: 3 Years of mine supervision experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills.
  • Microsoft Office: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) experience required.
  • AutoCAD and Mining Software: AutoCAD experience a plus with desire and ability to learn more detailed mining software (Surpac Quarry).
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to work in an outdoor environment with some physical labor at times.
  • Teamwork and Motivation: Self-motivated Team player with a focus on mission accomplishment.
Working Conditions
  • Extended Hours: Capable to work extended hours as needed.
  • Travel: Ability to participate in required overnight travel as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Abilities: Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position.
  • Physical Strength: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
  • Communication: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors.
