Job Summary

This position is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and involves working with Child Protective Services to screen and analyze reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and threats to a child's safety.

As a Child Welfare Specialist, you will work closely with the 24-hour statewide Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline to provide information and support to callers, and to gather information to make decisions about alleged abuse or neglect.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of child welfare principles and practices, and will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen and analyze reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and threats to a child's safety
  • Provide information and support to callers on the 24-hour statewide Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline
  • Gather information to make decisions about alleged abuse or neglect
  • Document and process reports in the Child Abuse and Neglect Information System (KIDS)

Requirements

  • Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university, or 3 years of experience related to child welfare work, or a combination of education and experience
  • A bachelor's degree (in any field) to qualify for Level II, or one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist
  • A Master's degree to qualify for Level III, or a bachelor's degree plus one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist, or two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist

Benefits

  • Annual salary ranging from $37,000 to $43,000, depending on level
  • Full state employee benefits
  • Opportunity for salary incentive of an additional 5% for Master's degree in Social Work
  • On-call positions receive an additional bonus ranging from $100 to $150 every two weeks

Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance
  • State vehicles available for use to carry out duties of the position
