We are currently seeking an Oyster Health and Disease Investigator to join our team in Milford, CT.

Job Summary:
The Oyster Health and Disease Investigator will work closely with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) to conduct a comprehensive survey of Crassostrea virginica populations in Long Island Sound. This exciting opportunity requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in laboratory management, molecular biology, and statistical analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory spaces, preparing sample collection instruments, processing oyster tissues, and conducting data analysis and reporting of results.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain laboratory spaces, equipment, and records
- Prepare sample collection instruments and containers for field and laboratory specimens
- Process oyster tissues using histopathological, microbiological, and molecular methods
- Conduct data entry, data management, and quality control of field and laboratory data
- Assist in data analysis and reporting of results

Compensation:
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick, and holiday benefits.

Requirements:
- Academic background in biology, chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, or marine science
- Experience working in a research laboratory setting
- Basic biological principles and experimental design
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work as part of a research team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in molecular biology techniques, such as DNA extraction, qPCR, PCR, and gel electrophoresis
- Experience conducting experimental sampling in the field and on research vessels
