Position Overview:
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Microbiology department, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory analyses that contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of various health conditions. You will operate under the guidance of the Technical Supervisor and Shift Supervisor, ensuring adherence to all established hospital and laboratory protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests to generate accurate data for clinical decision-making.
- Follow all relevant policies and procedures to maintain high standards of laboratory practice.
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the designated Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a health science discipline or medical laboratory science is essential. Consideration may be given to candidates with a minimum of five years of pertinent experience in lieu of the degree.
- A current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) license is required, or must be obtained within a specified timeframe upon hiring.
- Note: Limited scope of practice will be applied until licensure is secured.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and listening skills are highly valued.
- Demonstrated organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with common computer applications and office software is advantageous.
- Certification as an ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent is preferred.
Work Schedule:
- The position requires 10-hour shifts, with potential hours from 1500 to 1330, including alternating holidays and every other week as needed.
