Job DescriptionPosition Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified Elementary Education Specialist to join our team in Pennsylvania. As an Elementary Education Specialist, you will work with students who require special education services, providing individualized instruction and support to help them succeed academically and socially.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and implement Individualized Education Plans tailored to the needs of each student.
- Provide Instructional Support: Offer one-on-one instruction in a resource room setting, adapting lessons and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaborate with General Education Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers to modify curriculum and teaching strategies to ensure students' success.
- Monitor Progress and Adjust Instruction: Continuously assess student progress, collect data, and adjust instructional methods to promote academic achievement.
- Foster a Supportive Classroom Environment: Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
- Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Regularly communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and IEP goals.
- Participate in Professional Development: Stay current with best practices by participating in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred) and valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certification (K-8 or K-12).
- Experience: Minimum 1+ years of experience working with elementary-aged students in a resource room and/or inclusive classroom setting.
- Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of IEP development, assessment tools, and modifications to meet diverse student needs, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
