ED Technician

As an ED Technician at Oswego Health, you will play a vital role in the care and treatment of Emergency Department patients, their families, and visitors. Under the general direction of the Emergency Departments Clinical Director, or their designee, you will perform various duties assisting in the care and treatment of patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Obtain patients' vital signs and place them on cardiac monitors.
- Perform EKGs and prepare patients for exams.
- Assist with medical setup for various procedures.
- Compile medical paperwork from patients' visits for medical records.
- Measure and fit patients with orthopedic supplies.
- Draw blood and collect specimens.
- Clean and stock rooms.
- Handle telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality.
- Contact other hospitals and specialty providers when requested.
- Arrange medical transport when needed.
- Assist in transporting Behavioral Health patients as directed/needed.
- Transport patients to different areas of the hospital.
- Perform CPR and other duties as assigned.
- Proficient in typing and basic computer knowledge.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
A high school diploma or GED is required. Previous patient care experience is strongly preferred. Current CPR certification is preferred, and a valid NYS driver's license is required.
Working Conditions:The ability to stand for extended periods is required. Moving, lifting, or transferring patients may involve lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as assisting with weights of more than 100 pounds. Fine motor skills, visual acuity, and other physical demands are also required.
