POSITION SUMMARY:
This advanced technical role is accountable for high-level technical solutions and administrative upkeep. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with practical experience in:

- Backup Solutions
The incumbent will be tasked with diagnosing, installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware, operating systems, and applications to meet business needs. They will provide technical support during both critical and non-critical hours and proactively identify and automate solutions to availability and performance challenges across the infrastructure.
This role encompasses managing a diverse data center environment, including planning and executing critical projects that support a variety of complex applications. Responsibilities include upgrades, maintenance, migrations, and proactive monitoring of 24/7 mission-critical systems.
The position demands a high degree of independent judgment, technical acumen, organization, and planning. Candidates must possess strong troubleshooting skills and technical knowledge to deliver timely results while effectively managing multiple assignments without compromising quality. A robust focus on documentation is crucial for success in this role. Familiarity with an enterprise ticketing system and ticketing processes is essential.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Design, deploy, and maintain all data center technologies throughout their lifecycle.
- Expertise in VMware, SANs, backup and replication technologies, Windows OS, Active Directory, SIEM, email and endpoint security, web security gateways, load balancers, virtual networks, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Systems Center Suite (SCOM, SCCM), AWS, Azure, disaster recovery, etc.
- Ability to assimilate large volumes of information, analyze it for key insights, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Assist in defining and devising the appropriate IT strategy that aligns with business objectives. Comprehensive knowledge of systems analysis, statistics, and formal reasoning principles.
- Current knowledge of cutting-edge automated hardware, software, and communication technologies and trends.
- Understanding of server/storage infrastructure, including IT best practices, industry standards, and market trends.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, methodologies, and techniques to effectively manage and motivate a diverse workforce.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment, manage competing demands, and handle frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Skill in researching, analyzing, and resolving hardware and software issues.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Capability to inform management about new hardware and software products being integrated into existing systems and assess the need for future upgrades.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Evaluate and uphold server infrastructure reliability and implementation.
- Oversee projects and support activities related to server maintenance.
- Coordinate, plan, assign, supervise, and review the work of junior staff.
- Recommend approval for hiring and conduct staff evaluations.
- Manage user accounts across various platforms utilized throughout the organization.
- Conduct regular audits and reporting activities for server maintenance.
- Engage in vendor acquisition and manage product relationships.
- Identify, design, and implement network technologies and methodologies to meet future enterprise needs.
- Respond to security incidents both independently and as part of an Incident Management Team.
- Execute advanced troubleshooting tasks.
- Participate in hardware and software evaluations and recommend purchases.
- Analyze and propose recommendations for hardware and software standardization.
- Provide complex technical support during critical and non-critical business hours on server hardware, operating systems, and software, ensuring proactive and reactive problem resolution.
- Deploy and configure complex server operating systems and applications in various environments according to corporate and vendor standards.
- Conduct complex application and storage system upgrades as well as scheduled health checks following established corporate policies and procedures.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of storage, replication, and backups for all systems, ensuring data integrity.
- Maintain all technical reference documentation for support and training of IT personnel.
- Define, assign, and supervise work in the development of new or revised server deployments and projects, ensuring desired results within established timelines.
- Coordinate all work efforts, testing, problem resolution, and application activities of assigned responsibilities with project staff and other groups as necessary.
- Provide status reports on current and planned work efforts as required.
- Actively engage in the design, planning, and development of server-related hardware and software installations and relocations.
- Contribute to strategic planning to automate organizational activities.
- Perform systems analysis and design of complex computer networks to implement server hardware and software, as well as peripheral devices.
- Compile, review, and maintain documentation of equipment inventory and licensing.
- Provide comparative cost analysis for hardware and software of assigned projects.
- Participate in the preparation and submission of annual budgets.
- Maintain diagrams of data centers and all hardware housed within them.
- Participate in the completion of annual performance evaluations of assigned staff.
- Collaborate with other Project Leaders on all server-related tasks.
- Assist in developing security measures for operating systems and hardware equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in information technology or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and/or experience.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Infrastructure/Systems administration in the field of server technologies, including:
- A strong technical background and experience in structured analysis, Microsoft technologies, and enterprise server-based environments is mandatory.
- Experience in designing and supporting systems within an enterprise environment.
TECHNOLOGY OR SOFTWARE:
- Advanced administration of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems.
- Advanced administration of Active Directory.
- Advanced experience with NetApp SANs or similar enterprise storage technologies.
- Advanced administration of VMware infrastructure.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Exchange Servers.
- Advanced experience with Veeam or similar enterprise backup and replication technologies.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Systems Center Suite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in information science and at least two (2) years of experience in a lead role within a server technologies group.
- PMP, Microsoft Certified: MCSE: Core Infrastructure, VMware Certified: VCP/VCAP.
- Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, or equivalent combination of certifications.
