About the Role

The ED, P&C Pricing Actuary will lead the development of product rate plans, oversee the execution of customized rate actions on multi-billion-dollar product line revenue, and deliver on the balance of financial and market goals. This role will direct Pricing's prioritization of product line projects and initiatives, aligning with Enterprise vision and strategy. The successful candidate will deliver advancement of analytics within pricing methodologies and in process synergies across P&C product lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning and execution of product line pricing reviews, projects, and implementation of strategic initiatives and enhanced rating structures.
  • Direct the development of the product's financial indications, ensuring thorough analysis of loss and premium trend projections, loss development, expense allocations and projections, and needed profit margins to achieve sufficient return for the risk.
  • Facilitate refined pricing business decision capabilities by incorporating new model tools and analysis techniques within the pricing review process and demanding the needed competitive price intelligence.
  • Promote and influence highly collaborative solutions to state pricing actions with Underwriting and Product Management executive alignment and with Operational and member communications.
  • Direct process improvement efforts and quality control in pricing procedures.
  • Provide leadership through ongoing resource planning, career planning, and development of rising leaders and high-performing teams, as well as communication of results to Officers and communication of vision to teams.
  • Build and oversee a team of actuarial professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching, and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 10 years of progressive actuarial experience in the property and casualty insurance industry developing strategies, managing major initiatives, and delivering results within a complex matrix environment.
  • 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing, and/or developing high-performing teams.
  • Credentialed Casualty Actuary; FCAS.
  • Experience in multivariate analysis and other complex modeling using statistical and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Solid understanding of the financial metrics and key drivers for pricing results.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to successfully influence across teams.
  • Experience managing multiple initiatives, working with ambiguity, and adapting to change.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Specialty Lines products such as Umbrella, Landlord, Renters, Personal Articles Floaters, etc.
  • Proven experience leading multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines with thoughtful planning and effective execution.
  • Proven experience partnering with state product managers on pricing strategies.
What We Offer

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $163,980.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
