Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Worker to join our team at the State of Rhode Island. As a Mental Health Worker, you will play a critical role in providing direct care and treatment to severely and chronically mentally disabled patients in a secure forensic treatment setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and treatment to patients, including promoting the therapeutic milieu and exercising custody and supervision.
  • Collaborate with professional staff to formulate and implement treatment plans, and participate in treatment team meetings.
  • Conduct therapeutic evaluations, interact with patients, and provide emotional support and feedback.
  • Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, and maintain patient records.
  • Supervise patients, including escorting them to appointments and off-site activities, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment, and adhere to infection control and disease prevention measures.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Behavioral Science, or related field.
  • One year of experience in a private or public hospital or clinical program involving the care, custody, treatment, and rehabilitation of severely and chronically mentally disabled persons.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license, and registration as a Nursing Assistant by the Rhode Island Department of Health.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a secure forensic treatment setting, with exposure to patients with severe and chronic mental disabilities. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
