Job Summary

PennState Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Per Diem Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood counts, chemistry tests, and microbiology tests.
  • Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, and analyze chemical content of fluids.
  • Cross-match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation, and prepare cells for use in cellular therapies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely results, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide excellent patient care and support.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program.
  • 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semesters of biology, and twelve (12) semester hours of courses in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
  • Proof of eligibility to sit for an applicable certification exam (ASCP, AMT, ACHI or equivalent).
  • Medical Lab Technician Certification through ASCP, AMT, ACHI or an equivalent certification agency within 18 months of employment.
