Duration: Ongoing, up to 40 hours per week

SUMMARY OF POSITION: As a Medical Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. You will identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyze chemical content of fluids, and cross-match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation. Your results will be used in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S): Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program (NAACLS/ABHES) or Associate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college/university with 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semesters of biology, and twelve (12) semester hours of courses in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination. Medical Lab Technician Certification through ASCP, AMT, ACHI or an equivalent certification agency must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
