As a Chiller Technician, your primary responsibilities will include the maintenance, repair, and installation of chillers across diverse environments. A solid understanding of chiller construction, systems, and safety protocols is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Education/Experience: Completion of a Union Apprentice program or equivalent training, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in chiller maintenance and repairs.
  • Certification: EPA certification for refrigerant handling is required. Factory training from leading manufacturers is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in interpreting electrical/control schematics and technical manuals. A strong grasp of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical components is necessary.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of efficiently diagnosing and troubleshooting chiller system issues. Strong ability to identify deficiencies in chiller systems and understand their inner workings, including pumps, cooling towers, and associated controls.
  • Physical Fitness: Must be able to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Licensing: A valid Texas Driver's license is required, with no more than 2 minor violations in the last 3 years and no major violations.
  • Familiarity with tablet-based service ticket software is preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary and participate in an on-call rotation.

Job Requirements

  • Journeyman license
  • 3+ years of experience with chillers
  • Experience in healthcare facilities is highly preferred
