Communication Specialist

The Speech Language Pathologist provides direct speech and language therapy to students and/or consultation with IEP team members. The SLP works with children who exhibit deviations in speech and/or language processes that are outside of the acceptable variation within a given environment and have an adverse educational effect.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct a comprehensive screening program for students in kindergarten, new district students, children from previous therapy, and referrals
- Provide thorough evaluation and diagnosis for children needing attention
- Develop a schedule for speech and language therapy in various areas
- Participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide regular progress reports to parents/guardians and teachers
- Consult with educators, parents, and support staff to ensure effective communication
- Provide in-service training on speech/language techniques to enhance staff knowledge
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of speech/language services
- Provide case management for students with primary speech/language disabilities
- Assist in requisitioning materials and making referrals to community agencies as needed
- Participate in the Medicaid reimbursement program to ensure compliance
- Perform other assigned duties to support the district's mission
- Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
- Two years of school-based experience
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Creative problem solver with a focus on student success
Licensed by the ISBE and IDFPR as a Speech Language Pathologist
Terms of Employment185-day contract, UEA member. Salary based on education, experience, and contract.
