Home Care Assistant

An Addus Home Care Aide/Caregiver plays a vital role in supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities living independently in their homes, requiring assistance with daily tasks. This position involves frequent person-to-person contact, making the Home Care Aide a crucial figure in their client's life. While physical activity is not constant, a Home Care Aide must be in good physical condition to perform the duties of the position. The demand for Home Care Aides is high, resulting in steady employment and flexible hours to accommodate personal and family needs.
Responsibilities- Follow a care plan for the client and report on completed tasks
- Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
- Provide routine house cleaning
- Assist with meal preparation
- Laundry
- Transport client to doctor's office, grocery store, and other essential errands
- Assist client with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
- As part of the client's Health Care Team, a Home Care Aide must observe and report any changes in client's condition
- Promote our positive image in the community as the leading home care provider
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED or one year experience in in-home care services
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Reliable transportation, including public transportation, and a valid driver's license and proof of insurance if driving
- Must be able to provide three references (two professional and one personal)
- Nurturing and compassionate nature with a desire to care for others
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized
- Familiar with and comfortable using a cell phone
