Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a staff of Air Traffic Control Specialists responsible for carrying out air traffic control assignments within a geographic area.
  • Plan and assign work to be accomplished by subordinate employees, setting work priorities and schedules.
  • Approve leave, provide advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Evaluate performance of employees and recommend performance ratings.
  • Hear and resolve complaints from employees and refer group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher-level manager.
  • Identify and arrange for developmental and other training needs of employees.
  • Find ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
  • Adjust staffing levels and work procedures to accommodate resource decisions made at higher levels.
  • Recommend goals and objectives for the area and track accomplishments.
  • Communicate and reinforce diversity and EEO policies and programs in all areas of responsibility.
  • Support and participate in the labor management partnership process, fostering a work environment where all employees are treated in a fair and equitable manner.
Requirements
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (Notification of Personnel Action).
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Security Requirement: Non-Critical Sensitive (2).
  • Medical Requirement: The selectee must pass a medical exam and/or maintain a medical clearance.
  • Financial disclosure may be required.
Qualifications

Candidates must show specialized experience, defined as:

  • Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks); OR
  • Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an Air Traffic Services (ATS) facility; OR
  • Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.

Additionally, candidates must currently hold or have held the position of CPC, TMC/TMS, MSS-1 or higher for at least 1 year (52 weeks) or a FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or higher in a Headquarters or Region position for at least 1 year (52 weeks).
