Medical Physicist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our radiation oncology team. As a Medical Physicist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate delivery of radiation treatment prescriptions.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in planning resource allocation with the radiation oncology team, including equipment usage, selection, and replacement, staffing requirements, budget preparation, and review of departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform calibration of treatment machines and maintenance of all necessary information for their use.
- Oversee the performance levels of imaging equipment used in radiation oncology.
- Develop and maintain a quality assurance program for all treatment modalities, localization procedures, and computational equipment and programs to ensure patients receive prescribed doses and dose distributions within acceptable degrees of accuracy.
- Maintain all instrumentation required for calibration of sources, measurement of radiation, and calculation of doses.
- Work with the Radiation Safety Officer to comply with regulating and certifying agencies.
- Participate on the institutional Radiation Safety Committee and other committees as needed.
- Perform calculations of shielding required for new or renovated treatment rooms, radioactive source storage, and handling facilities.
- Consult with Radiation Oncologists on the physical and radiobiological aspects of patients' treatments and the development of treatment plans.
- Master of Science or Doctoral degree in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Board certification or eligibility by The American Board of Radiology or The American Board of Medical Physics.
- Minimum two years of experience performing therapeutic radiation physics in a clinical setting.
- Preferred experience with treatment platforms and systems, as well as Epic electronic medical record.
- Effective written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to deal with people of different ages, backgrounds, and education levels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively work within a high-volume, fast-paced department.
