Role Summary:

We are in search of a skilled cybersecurity expert to enhance our team in Suitland, MD. This position involves delivering comprehensive information security support for NOAA's satellite operations. Key responsibilities include the development and maintenance of robust security and risk management programs for intricate government information systems. As an Information Security Compliance Specialist, you will be tasked with documenting security control implementations, maintaining essential security documentation, and evaluating the effectiveness of the security framework.

We seek an individual with a solid background in cybersecurity, meticulous attention to detail, and a keen interest in satellite data and government-related products. Collaboration is vital, as you will engage closely with system administrators, engineers, and scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support cybersecurity initiatives for the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and System Owner (SO)
  • Document security control implementations within System Security Plans
  • Propose technical or policy modifications to enhance security measures
  • Coordinate security assessments, penetration testing, and evaluation efforts
  • Draft and revise core security documentation
  • Oversee Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive security enhancements
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the vulnerability management program
  • Coordinate responses to audits and data requests
  • Plan and manage system assessment and authorization processes

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity
  • Familiarity with NIST Risk Management Framework and security controls
  • Strong analytical and communication abilities
  • Capability to articulate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with government security assessment tools such as CSAM
  • Knowledge of the NIST Risk Management Framework
  • Understanding of issue tracking and configuration management systems
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+)
  • Proficiency in vulnerability management tools like Tenable Nessus
  • Experience with continuous monitoring and log management systems
  • Possession of an active Secret security clearance is advantageous
