Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Associate Director for Engineering and Utilities in engineering design efforts related to building systems and campus infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing guidelines and standards for efficient energy use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Collaborate with Design and Construction, Facility Operations, Planning and Architecture, and the Office of Sustainability to achieve the University's design, operational, energy, and environmental goals
  • Support the Associate Director in representing the Office of Facilities and Real Estate in planning efforts for major and minor design and renovation projects
  • Review and analyze design and construction documents prepared by outside consultants to ensure conformance to university standards and sound engineering practice
  • Participate in construction oversight and assist in resolving discrepancies and disputes that arise during the construction process
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer license in the State of Maryland or a state with reciprocity preferred
  • At least seven years' experience in building MEP systems engineering and design work, or a Master's Degree in an associated field with five years' experience
  • Experience with construction and renovation of a broad variety of building types and construction methods
  • Ability to use MS Office and AutoCAD, and a thorough understanding of architectural and engineering drawings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with sustainable concepts and commissioning process
  • Knowledge of controls, power, lighting, and low and high voltage systems
  • Ability to communicate graphically through sketching, drafting, and marking up drawings

Johns Hopkins University offers a competitive salary range of $85,500 - $149,800 annually, commensurate with experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
