Job Overview:

The Foreign Exchange Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in the timely and precise settlement of foreign exchange transactions. This position is essential for ensuring that all trades executed through the FX trading desk are settled accurately on the designated value date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • FX Trade Settlement: Ensure the prompt and accurate settlement of foreign exchange trades executed via the trading desk.
  • Standard Settlement Instructions: Adhere to the Standard Settlement Instructions (SSI) provided by clients and counterparties for all settlements.
  • Transaction Verification: Confirm FX transaction instructions for release on the value date.
  • Bilateral Netting System: Execute settlements of transactions accurately and in a timely manner within the bilateral netting framework.

Process Enhancement:

  • Identify and implement improvements in post-execution processes, focusing on automation and procedural enhancements.

Monitoring and Response:

  • Oversee the SWIFT repair queue and respond to issues as they arise.
  • Address inquiries in the FX OFAC queue promptly.

Instruction Validation:

  • Validate currency settlement instructions for custody, third-party, and inter-bank transactions.

Issue Escalation:

  • Report trade discrepancies to the FX trade initiation and management team when necessary.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) required.

Experience:

  • 6 to 12 months of experience in FX Operations, Derivatives, or related Financial Services is preferred but not mandatory.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong skills in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Familiarity with core systems used in foreign exchange operations.
  • Understanding of FX trade-related SWIFT messages and necessary fields for transaction confirmation and payments.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proactive approach to daily responsibilities and adeptness at handling various tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and client service orientation.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
