The Medical Intensive Care Unit-1 (MICU-1) is a specialized 16-bed facility dedicated to providing exceptional care for critically ill adult patients. Our dynamic environment fosters teamwork among nurses, Intensivists, and various ancillary departments, exemplified through our daily multidisciplinary rounds. We manage patients facing severe health challenges, including Acute Respiratory Failure, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Sepsis, and more. Our unit's distinctive nature allows for the cultivation of critical thinking and a diverse set of intensive care assessment skills due to the wide array of cases we encounter.

- Delivering and documenting education for patients and/or significant others, tailored to their individual needs and learning barriers.
- Regularly evaluating patient care and collaborating with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient-centered outcomes.
- Assigning and delegating nursing tasks based on patient needs and team capabilities.
- Implementing safety protocols during care delivery and accurately documenting observations and care provided.
- Participating in transition rounds, care planning, and team shift reports.
- Engaging in performance improvement initiatives by contributing to PI teams and supporting necessary changes for enhancement.
- Completing initial and annual competency assessments as required.

- Adhere to compliance requirements as specified in the Employee Handbook.
- Uphold DCH Behavioral Standards by fostering positive relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and oneself.
