Job Summary

The State of Florida is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Specialist II to join our team in the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing cost reimbursement grant agreements for the Resilient Florida Program, coordinating with local governments, engineers, planning consultants, and regulatory agencies for successful project completion.

About the Role

This is an intermediate-level environmental position that requires a strong understanding of grant and contract best management practices, as well as knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of verifiable related experience, or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience for a total of 6 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of statewide measures to assist communities in completing vulnerability assessments and implementing adaptation projects.
  • Conduct research to identify compliance actions required to meet the statues and regulations for the Resilient Florida Program.
  • Serve as an environmental program grant manager for assigned grants and assist other project and grant managers for the Resilient Florida Program grant agreements.
  • Coordinate directly with other DEP staff, state and federal agencies, and local authorities to facilitate successful completion of grants.
  • Monitor project progress, coordinating with grantees and contractors, reviewing deliverables in accordance with Program Statute and the project scope of work, completing required grant and expenditure documents, and providing reports, as required.
