Job Summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a skilled Project Engineer to contribute to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program. The successful candidate will lead engineering activities related to project planning, design, execution, and closeout in DOE/NNSA non-reactor nuclear facilities and radiological facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project development with an Integrated Project Team (IPT) comprising customers, stakeholders, subject matter experts, and others
  • Oversee the work of other project engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Develop cost estimates and manage technical requirements for construction
  • Plan, forecast, and identify necessary engineering resources
  • Resolve field-initiated questions and aid in the resolution of construction-related technical issues
  • Mentor other project engineers and contribute to the development of training presentations

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience working with design and construction contracts
  • 6 years of experience in cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost and variance analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with project management and execution, including detailed engineering and construction work processes and procedures
  • Ability to articulate concepts through various oral and written communication media and apply critical thinking in complex problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 years of experience as a senior technical advisor implementing, overseeing, and assessing engineering activities
  • 12 years of experience with non-reactor nuclear codes, standards, and best practices
  • Experience in the development and implementation of a Project Engineering Program

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of practical work experience for the Engineer 3 level
  • For the Engineer 4 level, a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 12 years of practical work experience
