Claims Trainee

BITCO Insurance Companies is seeking a Claims Trainee to join our team in Davenport, IA. As a Claims Trainee, you will gain valuable knowledge of the commercial insurance industry and develop soft skills through our specialized training program, BITCO-U.
Key Responsibilities:- Investigate and resolve less complex claims through telephone or correspondence
- Review claim coverage, liability, and damage issues
- Take recorded statements by telephone or in person
- Negotiate and resolve factual situations
- Apply applicable state law cases and statutes regarding liability risks, insurance issues, and tort and contract law principles
- Complete company reports for claims files
- Take releases, proofs of loss, and authorize issuance of settlement funds
- Participate in departmental projects
- Complete necessary course study(ies) relating to insurance coverage and/or claims
- Develop and maintain good working relations with customers and co-workers
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred but not required)
- Ability to provide prompt and effective Claims services to our customers
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external parties, including in a group setting
- Willingness to relocate to any of our branch locations upon successful completion of the training program
