At Yoakum Community Hospital, you will engage with a diverse range of patients, from infants to the elderly. Your key responsibilities will include confirming patient identities, performing routine blood draws, and executing both quantitative and qualitative analyses of body fluids, including blood, urine, and spinal fluid. You will also interpret test results, conduct blood compatibility tests, and ensure timely communication of critical values to the nursing staff.
As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, carry out routine maintenance, and document any necessary repairs. Keeping your workspace organized and stocked with supplies is essential. We encourage ongoing professional development, and our team members are invited to participate in monthly educational activities to stay current with advancements in the field.
To excel in this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution. While one to two years of relevant experience is preferred, we welcome applicants with equivalent education and experience. Certification as a Medical Technologist and registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or a similar body is mandatory. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team are crucial for success in this role.
