Tongues Community Performance Project

New York, New York, United States Asian American Arts Alliance Full time

About Us
Tongues is a multilingual community performance project initiated by the Asian American Arts Alliance. We aim to bring together artists and storytellers from diverse backgrounds to share their true-life experiences with English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) speakers and explore the questions of how multilingualism shapes one's identity and how we can communicate when we don't share the same language.

Project Details
We will conduct workshops each weekend, starting in April, where participants will share their stories about navigating the world as a multilingual person. This will be followed by theatre games inspired by shared stories. After 5 workshop sessions, we plan to present in front of a small group of audience. The presentation will be based on the stories shared throughout the workshops and the collaborative work done by everyone involved.

Your Contribution
You will be part of a work-in-progress multilingual performance project. You will participate in workshops and contribute to the development of the project. Your role will be to share your stories and ideas, and to collaborate with other participants to create a unique and engaging performance.

Salary Range
$16,000 - $21,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
