This position is situated within the Retirement Solutions Operations division of Nationwide Private Client. Role Overview

As a Senior Business Consultant, you will work autonomously or as part of a team to establish a shared understanding of the business landscape in which projects are defined, designed, developed, deployed, utilized, and supported. You will engage in significant process modeling, analysis, and design initiatives, providing capabilities in business performance management, organizational design, and business risk management to formulate impactful business transformation strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior management to innovate their operations through strategic utilization of personnel, processes, and technology. Engage in the planning phase by identifying complexities, dependencies, and redundancies.
  • Exhibit proficiency in leading business process analysis/design, organizational assessments, needs evaluations, and cost/benefit analyses to align solutions with corporate strategies.
  • Act as a liaison between business clients and systems departments for the development and execution of business processes and protocols. Responsible for effective communication with clients, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Identify essential components of business processes that require oversight. Define success performance criteria and report on performance cohesively.
  • As a team member, contribute to the analysis and design of organizational structures, roles, responsibilities, governance, staffing, and sourcing to support business objectives and process architecture.
  • Lead training sessions for clients on business, technological, societal, and environmental trends to enhance strategies for improving business performance.
  • Facilitate the evaluation and research of new and existing products, procedures, and workflow requirements related to business systems. Assess new technological advancements and evolving business needs, recommending suitable system alternatives or enhancements.
  • Develop persuasive business cases, incorporating feedback from senior management to achieve business goals. Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with current and desired operational models.
  • May provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior staff. May assign responsibilities, set clear objectives, and monitor progress and outcomes. May oversee project timelines and budgets, developing project plans and desired outcomes for overall solution delivery.

Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director. This is an individual contributor role without direct reports, but may offer opportunities to lead projects or teams.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, business, mathematics, or a related field is preferred. Graduate studies are advantageous.

Experience: A minimum of eight years of dynamic experience in planning, designing, and executing enterprise-wide business transformation initiatives. Extensive experience in functional, process, information, and data modeling, data management, and systems integration. In-depth knowledge of process redesign methodologies and tools. A minimum of three years of project management experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Demonstrated understanding of standards, methodologies, and frameworks in business process management and technology. Comprehensive knowledge of various tools, concepts, and techniques. Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in the technology sector. Detailed knowledge of the system development life cycle and project management principles is essential. Strong facilitation, performance management, organizational design, and change management skills are required. Ability to lead complex projects effectively. Excellent communication skills and capacity to navigate ambiguity are crucial.
