Job Summary

The Body Shop Estimator position involves providing timely, accurate, and customer-approved estimates for repair work. You will be responsible for documenting estimates and necessary repair work according to established industry standards and insurance company regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise body shop department personnel and monitor their performance in servicing customers under the direction of the Truck Body Manager.
  • Assess the present and future needs, trends, problems, and profit opportunities of the Body Shop.
  • Serve as a liaison between technicians and customers.
  • Lead technicians in maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Prepare estimates for repair work according to dealership, insurance company, and industry standards.
  • Oversee delivery of repairs and manage customer expectations.
  • Ensure required documentation is complete and in compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Assign work to technicians and ensure all work meets quality control standards.
  • Maintain excellent customer service focus and document all customer interactions for each job.
  • Encourage technicians to keep their skills up-to-date through periodic technical training on new systems and components offered by manufacturers.
  • Ensure that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied within the department.
  • Review and appraise the results of activities within the department and take appropriate action as necessary.
  • Some overnight travel may be required as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Minimum two to three years truck body experience or related field.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Body certification or designation preferred.
  • Basic personal computer skills including Email and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of the truck industry.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • An aptitude and interest in body repair.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Effective time management skills.

The Body Shop Estimator will work in a fast-paced body shop environment with a focus on customer satisfaction and quality repair work. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with customers and technicians.
