Job SummaryThe Body Shop Estimator position involves providing timely, accurate, and customer-approved estimates for repair work. You will be responsible for documenting estimates and necessary repair work according to established industry standards and insurance company regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise body shop department personnel and monitor their performance in servicing customers under the direction of the Truck Body Manager.
- Assess the present and future needs, trends, problems, and profit opportunities of the Body Shop.
- Serve as a liaison between technicians and customers.
- Lead technicians in maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Prepare estimates for repair work according to dealership, insurance company, and industry standards.
- Oversee delivery of repairs and manage customer expectations.
- Ensure required documentation is complete and in compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Assign work to technicians and ensure all work meets quality control standards.
- Maintain excellent customer service focus and document all customer interactions for each job.
- Encourage technicians to keep their skills up-to-date through periodic technical training on new systems and components offered by manufacturers.
- Ensure that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied within the department.
- Review and appraise the results of activities within the department and take appropriate action as necessary.
- Some overnight travel may be required as needed.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Minimum two to three years truck body experience or related field.
- Body certification or designation preferred.
- Basic personal computer skills including Email and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of the truck industry.
- CDL preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- An aptitude and interest in body repair.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and computer skills.
- Effective time management skills.
The Body Shop Estimator will work in a fast-paced body shop environment with a focus on customer satisfaction and quality repair work. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with customers and technicians.
