We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team in Worcester, MA. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining general ledgers and subsidiary journals, as well as performing various accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain general ledgers and subsidiary journals related to one or more funds through trial balance.
- Perform grants & contract billing, reporting, cash management, forecasting, and other monthly accounting processes.
- Analyze and forecast monthly contract spending to ensure it is in line with budget.
- Reconcile RCAP accounts receivable and create, enter, and post required journal entries.
- Prepare and send financial reports to funding sources according to contract requirements.
- Monitor bank accounts and cash management for RCAP as necessary.
- Assist in preparing schedules for annual audits and follow month-end closing procedures.
- Distribute monthly summary sheets and financials to the Program Director.
- Assist with annual budget and mid-year forecast process.
- Review general ledger and data from multiple software packages to prepare accurate financial forecast.
- Degree in accounting or equivalent.
- Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task and follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Organize and prioritize work with a desire to grow and learn the complexities of our organization.
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and a computerized accounting system required; MIP or similar software experience preferred.
