Position Overview

The Amtrust Claims Workers' Compensation and Managed Care Analytics team is seeking a Claims Data & Analytics Specialist. This role is pivotal in supporting the Claims organization by delivering analytical insights and pinpointing opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will adeptly communicate insights derived from claims data to the actuarial and underwriting teams, ultimately improving risk assessment and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Claims and Actuarial leadership to conduct comprehensive analyses of claims trends and patterns.
  • Gain an understanding of the Workers' Compensation Claims process and the data it generates.
  • Lead the development of a solid data infrastructure for Workers' Compensation and Managed Care by mastering both internal and external data sources.
  • Prepare reports for and work alongside senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Assist the Claims leadership team with various ad-hoc analytical requests.
  • Execute other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology, Operations Research, or a related Social Science.
  • A minimum of 3 years of financial or operational analytical experience within the insurance sector.
  • Proficient in analyzing extensive and complex data sets with a keen ability to identify trends and deliver actionable business insights.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, especially Excel and SharePoint.
  • Experience in crafting advanced SQL queries.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or similar.
  • Knowledge of at least one statistical programming language, including R, SAS, Python, SPSS, or Stata.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across various business units.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field.
  • Previous experience with Claims and/or medical data.
  • Understanding of standard medical coding systems such as CPT, HCPCS, ICD, NDC codes, etc.
