Position Overview

The Amtrust Claims Workers' Compensation and Managed Care Analytics team is seeking a Claims Data & Analytics Specialist. This role is pivotal in supporting the Claims division by delivering analytical insights and pinpointing opportunities for enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will adeptly communicate insights derived from claims data to actuarial and underwriting teams, ultimately improving risk assessment and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engages with Claims and Actuarial leadership to facilitate in-depth analysis of claims trends and patterns.
  • Acquires knowledge of the Workers' Compensation Claims process and the associated data outputs.
  • Champions the development of a comprehensive data infrastructure for Workers' Compensation and Managed Care by mastering both internal and external data sources.
  • Creates deliverables for, and collaborates with, senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Assists the Claims leadership team with various ad-hoc analytical requests.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology, Operations Research, or a quantitative Social Science.
  • A minimum of 3 years of financial or operational analytical experience within the insurance sector.
  • Proficient in analyzing large and complex data sets with a keen ability to identify trends and convey actionable business insights.
  • Experienced with MS Office applications, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
  • Skilled in writing advanced SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of at least one statistical programming language, including R, SAS, Python, SPSS, or Stata.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across various business units.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field.
  • Previous experience with Claims and/or medical data.
  • Understanding of standard medical coding systems such as CPT, HCPCS, ICD, NDC codes, etc.
