We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic II - Sheet Metal Specialist to join our team at Vectrus. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks related to aircraft sheet metal repair and fabrication.
Key Responsibilities- Perform disassembly, modification, repair, and reassembly of complex aircraft metal items and systems, including bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks.
- Analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal systems and items, and develop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development.
- Fabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, and aluminum.
- Replace sections and patch old systems, and cut, bend, shape, and form metals for items with numerous irregular angles, planes, and curves with varying pitch and circumference.
- Use a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints, drill or punch holes, and assemble or repair items by seaming, soldering, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, and spot welding.
- Meet appearance and strength standards, as well as critical tolerances, and ensure that assembly methods meet these requirements.
- Maintain qualifications in Advance Skills Management, and attend or complete online mandatory training.
- Assist in maintaining NAMP Programs, follow Ground Operating Procedures, and ensure compliance with established safety procedures.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, and minimum experience or military experience as an aircraft airframes or sheet metal mechanic.
- Security Clearance, and citizenship status as a US Citizen.
- Ability to pass a NACI, which may include a credit check, and maintain a drug-free workplace.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with good problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge with computer, and Advance Skill Management (ASM) or willingness to learn the functions.
- Ability to perform research, with a working knowledge of electronic publications, such as Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), and knowledge in navigating NATEC website to access Technical Publications, service bulletins, technical publications, blueprints, IPB (Illustrated Parts Breakdown), MIM (Maintenance Instruction), LES (Local Engineering Specifications), LPS (Local Process Specifications), and TEI (Temporary Engineering Instructions).
