Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient safety and perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, and assist in minor procedures under the supervision of a physician or physician assistant.
  • Process lab specimens, operate medical equipment, and provide patient instructions on medication administration and regulatory standards.
  • Collect, communicate, and document accurate patient information/data and maintain medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate requests for information and prescriptions, and maintain patient care areas to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the medical assistant to take national CMA, CCMA, or RMA medical assistant certification exam preferred.
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred but not required; 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a physicians office or hospital outpatient department may be accepted in lieu of degree/diploma from accredited medical assisting program.
  • CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification preferred; BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support) required (must be obtained within first 90 days of hire).
