Job Summary

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of a technologist, supervisor, manager, or director.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, including instruments and quality control systems.
  • Conduct correlations studies, linearities studies, dilution studies, and precision studies to ensure accurate test results.
  • Process and analyze laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot common technical problems, and take corrective action under supervision.
  • Enter and retrieve patient data accurately using the laboratory computer system.
  • Participate in continuing education programs to stay up-to-date on the latest laboratory techniques and technologies.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure smooth laboratory operations and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Valid certification as a clinical laboratory technician issued by the New York State Education Department.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
