Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled School Counselor to join our team at SANY's Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in counseling and be able to work effectively with students in grades 5-7 who may be experiencing emotional, family, or scholastic difficulties.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, enabling them to collaborate with school staff, families, and community members. They will also have the ability to problem-solve and resolve personal disputes on a daily basis.

Responsibilities will include collaborating with staff to determine charter requirements for instructional goals, objectives, and methods, as well as utilizing analytics and data to drive instruction and promote learning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling required; Master's degree preferred
  • NYS Counseling Certification
  • Experience working with diverse populations or in an urban setting is a plus
  • Prior experience is preferred, but novice counselors are encouraged to apply
  • Fingerprint clearance through the NYS Department of Education
