Overview

Catholic Health Initiatives is seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at CHI Health-Midlands. As a key member of our ER team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our emergency medicine services.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Diagnose and treat various medical conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and emergencies.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, taking into account patient history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results.
    • Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories, including taking vital signs, performing physical exams, and ordering diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, including nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Provide clear and concise medical information, including test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
    • Foster a collaborative and patient-centered approach to healthcare, working closely with other healthcare providers to ensure seamless care.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
    • Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans, including test results and other relevant information.
    • Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations, including accurate coding and billing for services provided.
  • Diagnostic Procedures:
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging studies.
    • Perform procedures as needed, including suturing, casting, and other minor procedures.
    • Collaborate with specialists for further diagnostic evaluation, including radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists as needed.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions to ensure seamless care and coordination.
    • Provide consultative services to other healthcare providers, including medical students, residents, and other physicians.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, including reviewing and analyzing clinical outcomes for continuous improvement.
    • Implement changes to enhance patient care and safety, including implementing new protocols and guidelines.
    • Stay informed about healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, including staying up-to-date on changes to coding and billing regulations.
  • Compliance:
    • Adhere to ethical and legal standards in medical practice, including maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

    • Participate in quality audits to ensure adherence to standards, including reviewing and analyzing clinical outcomes for continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Learning:

    • Participate in ongoing medical education and training, including completing continuing education requirements for licensure and certification.
    • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines, including staying up-to-date on changes to coding and billing regulations.
