About the Role:
The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician III to join our team. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients with psychiatric disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directing medical and infection control activities, monitoring trends, and making recommendations for improvement.
- Providing supervision to physicians and nurse practitioners in the medical clinic.
- Acting as a resource for infection control and consultant to general medical physicians.
- Providing treatment to state hospital employees injured in the course and scope of employment.
- Covering call duties, including taking calls from admissions and units regarding patient care, reviewing referrals for admissions, and giving admission orders if the patient is accepted.
Requirements:
- Must have extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to understand that duties, location of work, and shift pattern are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital.
Additional Information:
This position may be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on evenings, nights, and/or weekends. The successful candidate will be required to actively participate and/or serve in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
